First, it is great that you are thinking about SEO. It is really the best strategy to build and grow a business. There is no other traffic source that is more consistent, reliable, efficient, and profitable than traffic from search results.
You can of course get traffic from paid ads, affiliates, and social media but there is a lot of problem with these sources. One you have to spend a lot of money to get traffic from them and when you stop paying your traffic goes to zero. These sources can cut you off anytime they want. Despite paying money you have to play by their rules and only say things they allow you to say. These sources also reduce your profits because you have to spend a big amount to get traffic from there.
But none of these problems happens with SEO. When you get your website ranked in search engine it stays there for a long time. You do have to add more efforts to stay ranked but it is negligible compared to the efforts you make with other sources. In addition, you have to spend a fraction of money compared to what you spend on these other sources for traffic.
This is why I recommend that when you want to build a traffic source focus on SEO. Just be sure to hire someone competent who can get you ranked.
Go to Google and type: “SEO help Auckland”. You will see a list of SEO companies in the search results. Don’t rush to hire the first one you see. Read reviews and shortlist a few that have good reviews. Interview them and hire the one you like the most.
